Haryana farmers get one-stop agriculture resource hub
Farmers in Haryana have received a major boost with the launch of a new Agriculture Technology Information and Farmers Resource Centre at the ICAR–Central Soil Salinity Research Institute (CSSRI) in Karnal. The facility has been designed as a single-window hub where farmers can access modern agricultural knowledge, technologies, and government support services under one roof.
The centre was developed through a collaboration between the Haryana government, ICAR-CSSRI, and private sector partners, aiming to strengthen sustainable and climate-resilient farming in the state. Haryana is one of India’s most agriculturally intensive states, with nearly 80% of its land under cultivation, making improved farm advisory services crucial for productivity and sustainability.
According to officials, the new hub will provide farmers with authentic, science-based information on soil health management, salinity control, water conservation, crop protection, and climate-smart agricultural practices. It will also guide farmers on the use of digital tools, precision farming techniques, and improved crop varieties.
Another key objective of the resource centre is to improve farmers’ access to government schemes, subsidies, and training programmes. Through interactive sessions, demonstrations, and advisory services, farmers will be able to understand modern cultivation practices and adopt sustainable technologies more easily.
Experts say such integrated information hubs can help farmers make better crop planning decisions, manage soil and water resources efficiently, and reduce input costs. The initiative is expected to particularly benefit farmers dealing with saline soils and water quality issues, a challenge in several parts of Haryana.

Agriculture scientists believe the centre will act as a knowledge bridge between research institutions and farmers, ensuring that laboratory innovations reach fields faster.
